Message: Can anyone answer this question for me? If a PBY 5 flying at 1,000 over water was shot down, would this aircraft probably sink like a rock...without a trace or from your experiences would you think that parts of this aircraft could stay afloat in waves 4 feet high? Surely there would be debris if the plane was shot down. And what kind of mechanical trouble would there be for the aircraft to sink without a trace?
